Knowing how to shop for college textbooks can save you a lot of money. It can be quite overwhelming once your have your course load and see the bill for your semester of learning, the last thing you want to find out is you have to dish out another thousand dollars for books. However, buying books is an undeniable aspect of college life and one you cannot escape. There are ways to save a few bucks on the books. The first thing you want to do is find someone who had the book you need already and has no further use for it. This is the perfect partner for your needs as they have no further use for the periodical and are usually happy to get whatever they can for it. Here are some places to begin your search.
1.) Amazon.com- Amazon is a premier place to find used textbooks of all types. Be sure to look at the used tab when you search your periodical. You can often find textbooks very cheaply if a previous student marked it up with a highlighter or pen. Defacing a book like this makes it virtually unsellable, except of course to the next student in line to take the class. Make sure this is your first step to find any textbook.
2.) eBay- It’s far from certain that your book will be on eBay but if it is, you could potentially find a great deal. This is especially true if there aren’t many people looking for your book at a particular time. For instance, if you know you are going to need a book, don’t wait until the start of the semester to find it. Hit eBay before the crowds get there and find a great deal on a book at a fraction of the normal price.
3.) University Bookstores- These book stores don’t always have tremendous deals but at least they are likely to have the book you need. If a great deal can’t be had then get a used copy from an online university store.
